Five Guys - Upper Street, N1

Just what the actual fuck is all the fuss about?  The Five Guys website is plastered with positive reviews; the menu has a selection of one-liners singing their praises.  Taste is subjective I know but I just do not get it.

Giant Robot - Clerkenwell Road, EC1

Why did no one tell me Giant Robot do a decent burger?! Developed originally for the Rotary Bar by Carl Clarke of Disco Bistro fame the Rotary Burger is a bit of a beast and well worth trying out.

Meatlover - Amwell Street, EC1

So Filthy McNasty's is no more; for the next few weeks only it’s going to be taken over by Meatlover.  I suppose you could liken this to a last stab at rebellion before it turns into a respectable gastropub that is much more befitting of the rather upscale Amwell Street “village” location.

The Bull and Last - Highgate Road, NW5

OK so I'm probably a bit late to the game here but I've been meaning to try out the Bull and Last for a while.  I love a scotch egg so I'm always looking for an excuse to try a new one and following a walk round Highgate Cemetery we knew where to go.

Lucky Chip Slider Bar - Broadwick Street

What a dangerous place; hidden down some steps on Broadwick Street the dimly lit Slider Bar is everything my doctor wants me to avoid.  We visited on a Friday after a few* post work drinks round Soho to take in some dirty slider action.

Burger and Lobster - Mayfair

With Burger and Lobster opening a second branch in Soho I thought I’d trot down to Mayfair to see if it was any easier to get a table.  The short answer no; the long answer it seems is that you are waiting longer than ever.

The Hawksmoor Bar - Commercial Road, E1

Hawksmoor have quite successfully made a reputation for cooking some of the best steaks in London but I’d only ever eaten in the Seven Dials outpost before now.  Having seen a piece in TimeOut about London’s 100 best dishes I thought I’d make the effort to check out the Spitalfields branch as well.

MEATmarket - Covent Garden, WC2

I’m going to have to use the word meat a lot in this review.  It can’t be helped so I’ll apologise in advance.

Almost Famous Burgers - Northern Quarter, Manchester

NO PRESS NO PHOTOGRAPHY NO BLOGGERS NO BLAGGERS NO KETCHUP.  That’s a pretty strong statement on a website for any new start up.

Rib-eye McHarrods Double Cheese Burger

I’m still searching for the perfect burger and when I spotted this one hundred percent rib-eye version in Harrods I knew I had to give it a go. Two hundred grams of minced rib eye for four pounds fifty a pop isn’t too pricey is it?

Burger Burger...

I’ve had so many awful burgers recently, which is part of the reason I’ve been so quiet of late. A bad burger is so truly uninspiring I’ve barely been bothered to write up my last few forays out.

The Admiral Codrington - Mossop Street SW3

There’s a lot to like about the Admiral Codrington. From outside it looks very unassuming; tucked away down a sleepy Chelsea side street it seems like your typical quiet boozer.

The Bird - Amfalk Platz, Prenzlauer Berg, Berlin

Until I’d moved to London and tried the delights of the #Meateasy and the like there is no way you’d have ever got me in a boiger joint on holiday.  I just wouldn’t have actively sought out an American restaurant but I’m really glad we took the time to find The Bird!

Meateasy - Goldsmiths Tavern, New Cross Road SE14

I'm not going to say a lot about this but if you can get down and try the #Meateasy whilst it is there you really should.  Just be patient, the food comes when its ready and enjoy the wait with a cocktail or two and you'll be richly rewarded.  Other people have written some words here and here and nothing more needs to be said!

The Meatwagon - Towpath Festival, Hackney

I don’t think I’ve ever been so eager to try a burger before as I’d been reading about The Meatwagon long before we made the move down to London. Yianni and his Meatwagon is normally only found in the Peckham area and is fast becoming a legend amongst the twittering classes.

Ed's Easy Diner - Old Compton Street, Soho.

We hadn’t planned to go to Ed’s last week, we were out in Soho enjoying the sights and frankly feeling a little star struck after seeing the living legend that is Sanjay from Eastenders.

Byron Burger - Canary Wharf

There isn't a lot to say that hasn't already been said about Byron Burger.  I checked out the Canary Wharf branch on my second day in London.  In all honesty I'd been waiting quite a while to try them again after catching their shack at Park Life.
