Peckham Bazaar - Consort Road, SE15

One top tip for bloggers out there if you wan't to avoid writers block; never read a review of a restaurant by a much better writer before trying to write your own...  Faye Maschler went to try Peckham Bazaar the day after us and ordered more or less identically.  She put it much better than I could with some lovely words and I recommend you read dem words here.

I will say though the food is fantastic; cooked outside over glowing coals the quality delivered was spot on.  It was made all the more impressive when you consider it was fucking freezing out there.

The kitchen team clearly know what they are doing and with a weekly changing menu I'm looking forward to seeing what else they can produce!  Highlights from this menu for me were the octopus, red lentil kofte, and the lamb shish.

The latter was cooked fantastically with delicious juicy meat, light bulghar pilaf, and an exceptional garlic sauce on the side.  The octopus just looked beautiful on top of it's greek fava beans and I can't help but be amazed that such pretty plates of food are coming out of what is essentially a shed outside!  The lentil kofte was such a surprise; I couldn't imagine lentils ever tasting so meaty but they were great with the butternut puree and jewelled pomeganite.

Great food, relaxed service, and a charming quirky atmosphere.  What more can you ask for?  Book now while you can still get a table.
