Yeasty yet perfumed like a baker’s daughter; frothy with a finer bead than a borrowers pearl necklace. Light golden colour, citrus, biscuits and nut flavour, and a clean creamy texture.
This Blanc de Blanc is stunning for the price and drinks better than Champagnes four or five times the value. I bought this on a whim for the Lady’s birthday but it will definitely be back in the fridge soon.
If you are looking for some decent bubbles you could do a lot worse than this. More words about the terrior and all that jazz here; don’t buy it Fortnum and Mason though, for the bag like me, you can get it far cheaper online!
Have to agree Paul that at the price it's a fabulous value BdB Champagne. Plenty of biscuity character and all the finessee necessary. Why would you buy a Grande Marque unless you want someone to know how much cash you've splashed ?
ReplyDeleteThis is the beauty of Champagne, price really doesn't mean quality!
DeleteI hada a lovely bottle of this, although i think it had a blue label, one I would buy again.
ReplyDeleteIt's from a very beautiful village too - Le Mesnil, superb grand cru Chardonnay and one of the villages where it's really obvious why it's a GC. Nice review, I liked it a lot.
ReplyDeleteI've taken you're word for it and ordered four cases!! I was looking for a decent but inexpensive champagne for our new students and came across your recommendation, i really hope you're right!! Thanks. Jen x
